Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
Christian Education advances our mission to “build people for Kingdom business”. The Christian Education ministry embraces the importance of teaching God’s word and of developing the congregation into more effective and spiritually-empowered champions of change for the Kingdom of God.
Christian Education at St. James consists of six distinct, but interrelated ministries that serve all ages:
* Sunday School
* Congregational Bible Study
* Vacation Bible School
* College Ministry/Gateway to Hope
* New Members/New Converts Classes
* Leadership Development
Each Christian Education ministry provides opportunities for focused biblical study, spiritual growth, enlightened understanding, and positive fellowship. The primary objective is to grow in God’s word. The fruits of such growth are Godly character, Christ-like attitudes, and committed discipleship. In order to provide meaningful programs to achieve these outcomes, Christian Education offerings at St. James are:
* Informed by the Holy Bible
* Inspired by the Holy Spirit
* Applicable to everyday life
* Responsive to the needs of the congregation
* Flexible in delivery
* Contemporary as well as traditional in topics
* Geared toward each age level
From an in-depth series on contemporary topics in Christian living, to lessons from the international Sunday School format, to structured courses in basic theology, the teaching ministry at St. James is dynamic, relevant, and Christ-filled. Our purpose is consistent with the guidance found in Ephesians 4: 11-13:11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
